The Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) occupies over one-third of the entire land area in Arden Hills, or approximately 4 square miles (2,330 acres), in the northern part of the City. The federal government has deeded approximately 1600 acres of this land to the National Guard and Minnesota Army Reserves, 118 acres along Rice Creek to Ramsey County, several acres for the City Hall and Ramsey County Public Works facilities, and the State of Minnesota. The City has made an offer to purchase the remaining 585 acres to redevelop with a mix of housing, commercial, retail, industrial, parks and open space, based on the Framework Vision that was developed for the property in 2002.

A northern suburb, the small and neighborly city of Columbia Heights provides residents with all the benefits of living in a well-established first-ring suburb with the urbane Minneapolis next door.
The three square mile area has been developed primarily into residential areas that still have a considerable amount of commerce and industry. Continuing its move forward through development and re-development ventures, the city has successfully replaced 18 run-down apartment buildings and multiple dwellings with a similar number of newly built single-family homes.
Most of the residences built in the 2041 acre community were built after World War II and approximately one third of the housing available is either apartments or town homes.

Incorporated as a city in 1949, Fridley is a well developed suburb located on three major highways and offers unmatched freeway access to every part of the metro area. With more than 900 businesses employing approximately 23,600 people. The city of Fridley also offers one of the largest pools of highly skilled and well-educated workers in the Twin Cities.
Fridley, also has several commercial businesses and light-industrial plants operating throughout the community. Its unique position at the base of the northern suburbs allows resident companies to draw employees from all over the area.
Fridley's largest employer is Medtronic, Inc., a manufacturer of medical devices, which employs approximately 6,500 people. Other major employers include United Defense, Burlington Northern Railroad, Cummins Power Generation, Unity Hospital and Target.
With the Mississippi River as its western border and 37 parks ranging in size from a half acre to 127 acres, Fridley has a total of 490 acres of parks, about 7 percent of its total land area and attracts more than 150,000 visitors a year.The largest park, Springbrook Nature Center is full of birds and wildlife, with readily accessible paths, bike trails, picnic facilities and an interpretive center with a staff of naturalists.
All the advantages Fridley offers its residents in terms of first-class amenities, housing costs, parks and recreation and education truly make Fridley a complete community.
Shopping areas include Moore Lake Plaza, Moon Plaza, Riverboat, Rice Creek Business Center and Holly Center.

New Brighton is a century old city that is truly young at heart. It is a northern suburb that is ideally situated at I-694 and 35W, giving its residents easy access to hotels, shopping centers and the downtowns of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Welcome to Ramsey County, Minnesota. The county is named after Alexander Ramsey, the first governor of the Minnesota Territory, and is the home of the state capital. Although Ramsey County is the smallest county in the state and the most densely populated, it has many beautiful recreational areas and parks. The Parks and Recreation Department operates nine county parks, five regional parks, extensive bike and cross-country ski trail corridors, golf courses, ice arenas, swimming beaches, boating facilities and much more. Within its borders there are 17 municipalities and the most colleges and universities of any county in the state. There are six suburban county libraries.
The Ramsey County Court House is a good symbol for the County - an area with a strong cultural heritage that is also well-integrated with modern technology-based systems. The Court House is a beautiful Art Deco structure that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1931 and renovated in 1993, it combines elegant design with recent technology as the operation center for local government and the courts.
Regional Parks
Ramsey County, as an implementing agency for the Regional Recreation and Open Space System, is responsible for five regional parks and five regional trail corridors consisting of over 3,774 acres.

Acquisition and development funding is supported by the State of Minnesota and the Metropolitan Council. Anoka County is responsible for the operation and maintenance of these regional parks and trails.
County Parks
County parks provide substantial benefits to local communities and neighborhoods. The parks are usually less than 200 acres in size and provide a range of natural resource based outdoor recreation.
